**The 2026 Edition**
Dear friends and members of the MasterClamp family,
We have made significant improvements to the MasterClamp design and materials, utilizing science to enhance the clamps' joining capability.
**Objective**
Our goal is to deliver higher clamping pressure specifically targeted at the joint. We recognized the need for increased clamping pressure and have replaced the 6061 aluminum clamp base plate with a 7075 aluminum base plate. The 7075 aluminum is a much harder alloy that is less flexible, allowing it to transfer more Pressure directly to the joint. This results in stronger bonding.
Additionally, we have counterbored the jaw spacers mounted on the base plate to enhance precision, prevent shifting, and reduce loss of clamping Pressure at the joint. The 7075 aluminum helps maintain the designed angle of attack rather than collapsing under load, unlike 6061 aluminum, which is more flexible and prone to collapse. These improvements extend the lifespan of critical clamp components, such as the Quick Release mechanism and the handle rod threads.
**Wood Glue, Setup Time, and Clamping Pressure**
We have redesigned the clamps to provide targeted clamping pressure that aligns with the recommended setup time of 5-15 minutes for standard PVA glues. The clamp time is 30-60 minutes, with a full curing time of 24 hours. It is crucial to clamp the joint within this time frame to ensure maximum bond strength. Insufficient clamping pressure can result in a weak or failed joint, while excessive clamping pressure may shorten the joining process. We adjusted the clamping Pressure on the joint to achieve optimal results, taking these factors into account.
Thank you for being part of the MasterClamp family!
